Background
1300apprentice was established in 1985 under the banner of Bankstown Group Retail Training Scheme to provide a formal means of countering unemployment for our youth and the disadvantaged as well as addressing the skills shortage that was starting to emerge. In 1995 we registered and operated under the business name of Sydney Training and Employment Ltd (STE) in recognition that the company had grown and now encompassed and worked across many areas. In 2008, we saw a further need to again change our trading name to 1300apprentice. This change was necessary in order to continue to reach, attract and appeal to both our current and future stakeholders. Coupled with the name change has been the development of a new image and logo which can be viewed on all of our printed collateral and the website.
1300apprentice is a not-for-profit Group Training Company (GTO) and has been operating for over 25 years. Our apprentices and trainees are based in the Sydney metropolitan area, ACT, Southern Tablelands, South Coast, Southern Highlands and many parts of regional New South Wales. We currently employ approximately 300 apprentices and trainees across 40 different vocational areas. This includes both male and female, Indigenous and people of non-English speaking backgrounds.
1300apprentice takes very seriously the responsibilities of an ethical employer and endeavours to ensure that all employees are treated fairly and with respect. To this end, we monitor our apprentices and trainees constantly throughout the term of their training contract in order for them to achieve competency in their chosen vocation.
During the years of operation, 1300apprentice have remained committed to career development obtained through training and on-the-job skills that ensure our employees become fully qualified and an asset to Australian organisations.
