Can you picture yourself in a welding mask? Then you must be a boilermaker!

If you love to weld and work with a variety of steel
this could be your dream job.

Boilermaking Apprenticeship

Boilermakers learn how to layout and cut heavy sheet metal from a blueprint and straighten or reshape metal using a variety of processes such as forging, founding, welding and the use of related computer controlled equipment. In this trade you will also learn how to use a wide variety of hammers and hand tools and the use of rigging and chain hoists as these are used to lift heavy frame and plate sections and other parts into place.

Originally boilermakers would fabricate boilers (which is where the name came from) but over time the work has become as diverse as working on mining equipment, bridges, shipping and blast furnaces.

Boilermaking is a four year apprenticeship and you would be required to complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade nationally recognised qualification.
