School Based Traineeship - Banking, Batemans Bay - Indigenous

Open to current Year 10 students who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, this School Based Traineeship (SBAT) is with ANZ, a leading Australian bank. It’s a great way to learn more about an occupation, gain workplace experience and get a head start in your career.


About the opportunity

This job is based in ANZ’s branch in Batemans Bay. You’ll learn a lot from other staff members and your supervisor. You’ll work as part of a team to provide ANZ customers with a seamless branch experience. This may include greeting and serving customers face-to-face, assisting with day-to-day banking needs and other general business tasks.

You will complete this SBAT part-time as part of your schooling. It will fit within your school study package and will contribute towards your HSC. You will earn a wage, train with the bank and work towards an accredited qualification while undertaking your HSC. The program will take approximately 18 months to complete.


Study information

During your traineeship you will complete a Certificate II in Workplace Skills or a Certificate III in Business. Training will be provided by the Australian College of Commerce & Management (ACCM). To achieve the Certificate II in Workplace Skills, you must complete a minimum of 11 hours per week (8 hours of work on the job and 3 hours of structured training). For the Certificate III in Business, you must complete a minimum of 15 hours per week (12 hours of work on the job and 3 hours of structured training).


To be eligible for this opportunity:

  • You must commence your School Based Traineeship in year 10 in December 2021
  • You must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • You must be interested in incorporating an SBAT into your Year 12 student package and have the support of your nominated secondary school to undertake an SBAT
  • You must be willing to undertake a police check as part of the recruitment process
