Trade spotlight – Boilermaking
Boilermakers learn how to layout and cut heavy sheet metal from a blueprint and straighten or reshape metal using a variety of processes such as forging, founding, welding and the use of related computer controlled equipment.
In this trade, you will also learn how to use a wide variety of hammers and hand tools and the use of rigging and chain hoists as these are used to lift heavy frame and plate sections and other parts into place.
A boilermaker apprenticeship is a four-year apprenticeship and you will be required to complete a Certificate III Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Heavy Fabrication) which is a nationally recognised qualification.
