Cabinet maker – Owen Shannessy
Following Owen’s finalist success at the recently held Southern Sydney Region Training Awards, we thought it was a good opportunity to talk about the cabinet making industry.
Cabinet Making falls under the Furniture Making Industry and cabinet makers typically use hand and machine skills to custom build commercial and traditional style furniture. Accuracy, attention to detail and a love of working with wood and other material is a cabinet maker’s dream.
1300apprentice, Owen Shannessy has recently completed his apprenticeship and is now continuing his career with Becker Joinery as a tradesman and supervisor. Owen said “the best part of the cabinet making Industry is the variety of jobs that you are able to complete. Sometimes you will find yourself working on a huge kitchen and other times you’re making a small box for speaker housing. The variety is endless.” Graham Becker, Director of Becker Joinery, said “Owen excelled at everything he did and we could not be happier with the skills that Owen has learnt from both us and also throughout his TAFE course.”
Well done Owen on completing your apprenticeship and thank you to Becker Joinery for their commitment and the training provided to Owen to bring him to this level of achievement.
