Our client in Canberra comes from a family business who have been in operation since 1954 and are still carrying on the family tradition.

The modern operations have been providing affordable, quality flooring solutions for Canberra residential and commercial clients since 2007, expertly overseeing all projects and working closely with their team of experienced installers to continually strengthen their reputation for attention to detail and quality work.

And now they would like a first-year apprentice to join their team!

They are looking for someone who is keen to learn and have the right attitude.

You only need to complete Year 10, however a vehicle and licence will be required to travel to job sites (allowances paid).

The apprentice would learn and work on the following:

  • Use of basic hand tools and powers tools
  • Examine drawings, work with materials and sample parts to determine specifications
  • Select and work with materials like carpet, vinyl, timber and concrete.
  • Work from detailed drawings and specifications
  • Create flooring solutions where detail is required
  • Prepare, lay, finish and maintain flooring.

An apprenticeship in Flooring Technology can lead to many opportunities in the industry! Once qualified, you have the opportunity to earn big dollars while working as a self-employed flooring installer, even with a team of installers with you. Or you could become a retail store owner, a manufacturer sales or technical representative, commercial, or specifier. There are many different types of flooring you could work in, i.e. vinyl & resilient flooring, commercial installation, residential, timber, carpet, etc. As a flooring installer, most of your work will be conducted indoors, so say goodbye to days in the rain or the pelting sun.
