Apprentices will gain knowledge and skills in automotive electrical vehicle (EV) technology, learning about the principles, components, and systems related to electric vehicles, including maintenance, repair, and diagnostics.


-> Certificate iii Automotive in Manufacturing Technical Operations Truck, Bus and Trailer

This certificate covers technical operations specific to truck, bus, and trailer manufacturing processes. Trainees gain expertise in areas such as assembly, maintenance, quality control, and safety protocols within manufacturing settings.


-> Certificate Iii Heavy Commercial Vehicle Technology

This certificate program trains individuals to maintain, repair, and service heavy commercial vehicles, learning about heavy vehicle systems, engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other essential components to ensure safe and efficient operation.


-> Certificate III Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology

Learn about mechanical repair and maintenance of light vehicles such as cars and motorcycles as apprentices acquire skills in engine diagnostics, suspension systems, braking systems, and other mechanical components necessary for maintaining and repairing light vehicles.


-> Certificate III Mobile Plant Mechanic

In this apprenticeship program, students will learn to maintain and repair mobile plant machinery used in various construction, agriculture, and mining industries. Students learn to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mobile plant equipment’s mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

 
What You’ll Learn in An Automotive Apprenticeship: 

Each apprenticeship program is different and tailored to the industry; however, in a car apprenticeship program, it is common for apprentices to learn

  • Replacing and mending defective vehicle parts from switches, fuses and lamps
  • Testing and replacing starter motors, generators and defective alternators
  • Examining motor engines and their components
  • Diagnosing potential faults in engines
  • Repairing and replacing worn and damaged parts
  • Using technical equipment to test the function of engines 
  • Performing scheduled maintenance on vehicles, including oil changes, engine tune-ups, and more 
  • Test and fix faults with electrical systems in vehicles such as lights, ignition, etc.
