Certificate III Painting & decorating

This is an industry that has been affected by the technological and industrial change.
A painter & decorator is trained in the process known as the surface coating industry. Surface painters and decorators remove old paint or paper, prepare and clean surfaces with the use of solvents, sandpaper, mechanical sanders, scrapers and other hand tools.
They conceal imperfections with the use of fillers and putty, learn how to estimate how much material will be required and how long a job will take.
You will learn how to apply paint and decorative finishes, be able to apply textured finishes and distinct paint techniques using brushes, foam and rags in both the interior and exterior of buildings and dwellings.
Painting and Decorating is a four-year apprenticeship and you would be required to complete a Certificate III in Painting & Decorating nationally recognised qualification. See TAFE for course description.
