Interview body language

When you finally land that all important interview for your dream job, you really want to make sure you do the best you can when the time comes to be interviewed.

Body language is an often overlooked, very important part of the interview process. How to sit, how you interact and how you behave, is very important and could mean the difference between you getting the job or not.

Firstly, when invited to sit down, make sure your posture is good with your back straight and your hands on your lap. Your hands or elbows should not come into contact with the desk (if there is one) and you should not lean forward on the desk. This can sometimes be perceived as arrogance. It is very important to maintain eye contact with the interviewer throughout the interview. If there is more than one interviewer give your attention in equal measure to everyone present and not just the one asking a question. Keep focused on the interviewer(s) and avoid looking around the room.
