We have a valued client looking for an apprentice for their Civil Construction & Maintenance team to carry out asphalt, concreting, drainage and other capital and maintenance related works.

This includes excavation of existing material, base preparation, forming up, concreting or asphalt laying or fixing and associated finishing.

Tasks include – but not limited to the following:

  • Carry out minor maintenance of vehicles including washing and daily inspection of fuels, oil and water
  • Filling in standard maintenance forms
  • Reporting of all vehicle/plant problems to the Plant Repair staff
  • Operate plant or implements such as: roller, excavator, front-end loader/backhoe, flocon, high-pressure water (when licenced/ticketed to operate)
  • Traffic Control (when ticketed)
  • Constructing and maintaining Footpaths, Driveways, Kerb & Gutter, Storm water Pits, Pram Ramps and Roads,
  • Reporting defects of assets, including those not within your immediate area of responsibility,
  • Work as member of team undertaking duties such as labouring, pipe laying, concreting, hot mix laying and pit/drain cleaning,
  • Use hand tools, chainsaws, air operated tools,
  • Working to levels, string lines and measuring accurately,
  • Rubbish removal/sweeping,
  • Graffiti removal on buildings and all street/park furniture,
  • Painting of buildings and street/park furniture,
  • Assistance in other areas of operations when required.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work area + more!

Please note that applicants will need to have or undergo the following:

  • A minimum of 2 x Covid19 vaccinations (based on company policy).
  • A pre-employment medical (including Drug & Alcohol testing) – our client will conduct this prior to employment. This will also include tests for hearing and colour blindness.
  • Police checks/background checks – again our client will conduct this prior to employment.
