An apprenticeship program is generally completed over 4 years. Within the first 3 years, you will complete structured training by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) such as TAFE. Competency-based completion can be attained through discussion with your host employer, RTO and your Apprentice & Trainee Officer.

Intake interviews commence October 2024.

About the intake

Our intake interviews are the perfect time to set your career up and be accepted in a role before you have even left school.

Applying is easy and all online, you will then receive a call to discuss your availability for your interview.

An interview will take about 30 mins depending on your circumstances and chosen apprenticeship.

Cost
As a 1300apprentice employee we pay all of your TAFE/RTO fees straight up! No reimbursement, no questions!
Wages
1300apprentice pay their apprentices weekly, more information about your employment conditions can be found at Fairwork and the National Employment Standards.
Trade Support Loan
Loans are offered by the Australian Government to eligible apprentices who are undertaking a Certificate III or Certificate IV qualification which leads to an outcome listed on the Trade Support Loans Priority List.
Transport Concession
All active apprentices are eligible for a Transport Concession Card.
Reduces Car Rego
You may be eligible for a rebate of $100 to assist you with the cost of registering your motor vehicle in your first and second year of an apprenticeship.
Living Away from Home Allowance
If you have had to move away from your family or legal guardian’s residence to take up an apprenticeship, you may be eligible for the Living Away From Home Allowance.

How we support you

The first time you meet your Apprentice & Trainee Officer will be when you complete your induction. Your Apprentice & Trainee Officer will be there to help you through your employment paperwork, timesheet log, policies and procedures and to have a chat about what’s expected.

We’re here to help you achieve milestones in your on and off the job learning whilst helping you grow into a valuable employee for your host employer.

RTO Support

We love seeing all of our apprentices and trainees succeed but if you find yourself struggling with your RTO studies we can help gain assistance. Just have a chat with your Apprentice & Trainee Officer to ask how we can help.

Employer Support

Before we place you with one of our hosts, we’ve already completed a face to face assessment to make sure we place you in an environment where you are given the chance to learn and be taught. Our host employers are looking for employees who want to succeed in their careers and want to add value to their business.

WHS Support

To instill safe work behaviours, 1300apprentice partners with host employers to support and facilitate a range of WHS practices to encourage a safe workplace culture.

FAQs

How much will I get paid?

At a minimum, you will be paid award wages and will receive all of your entitlements as per the award. Check out the Fair Work link to find out more.

Do I need to provide references for the interview?

References, especially ones from any job, work experience or casual role that you have had, will always help you. Make sure that that the person giving the reference knows that you’ve put their details down.

Am I eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship?

1300apprentice accepts applications from Australian citizens, permanent residents and NZ passport holders who have been in the country for more than 6 months.

What happens when I finish my apprenticeship or traineeship?

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Nationally Recognised Qualification. Ideally, we would love you to stay on with your host employer if given the opportunity or you may want to continue with further study.

How does the employment relationship work?

1300apprentice is your legal employer, we pay your wages, superannuation, allowances, issue your payslips and provide support. Your host employer provides your on-the-job training and support. We all work together to help you succeed!

What happens if my host employer runs out of work?

As your legal employer, 1300apprentice will work with our other host employers to keep you employed and learning.
